What’s a New Cardinal to do on Ash Wednesday? Serve the Poor with the Franciscans!
It was just a matter of days after being made one of the youngest Roman Catholic Cardinals in the current batch created this year that Cardinal Timothy Dolan, Archbishop of New York, returned to the Big Apple. He spent the early hours of Ash Wednesday serving food on the St. Francis of Assisi Breadline on 31st Street, a longstanding outreach institution of New York City run by the friars of my province. Here’s a photo of Cardinal Dolan speaking with Fr. Dominic Monti, OFM, the Vicar Provincial of Holy Name Province.
