As the military strikes continue in an international effort to end the violence perpetuated by Qaddafi’s against his own people, our world is in need of prayer, solidarity and support aimed at ending all violence. There is indeed unrest in the Middle East, which is — at least to me — exacerbated by the suffering of thousands in Japan, whose plight has also captured international attention and compassion. These are difficult days for many and we should be mindful of what we can and cannot do to help. Let our efforts to be rooted in our solidarity with the rest of the human family and let our prayers be for peace and justice.
I share with you an adopted version of the prayer so frequently attributed to St. Francis, although he was not the actual author. There is a website that features this peace prayer in many languages.
