Fredericka, I revere life.

I don't hate anyone, at least I work hard not to, much less more than 1/2 the human population. How can you say that the Catholic Church, which many Protestants claim pays too much attention to Mary, hates women when the greatest human to ever live is a woman- Mary, and a good many doctors of the church are women?

For the record, I don't envy Sister Margaret. I would not want to be in her shoes in any way. I admire her courage. What I don't know is all the facts, and nobody, maybe, except the mother, knows the entire story, and probably her doctor...I don't envy the bishop and pray for his pastoral integrity.

God bless you.

Excuse me, Fredericka, but to whom and about what are your referring? Is there something in this post that leads you to believe that its author "obviously despise[s] and hate[s] women?" I can assure that is certainly not the case.

As for your remarks, I would ask that you please be respectful toward all those who offer comments on this site, you may politely, even forcefully, disagree - but please no ad hominem or overtly disrespectful diatribes.

Thank you.

Brother,
Respectfully, do you know for a fact that the hospital tried all other means to save the baby and the mother? It's unclear in what the public has been told. If the hospital didn't do everything in it's power to save both baby and mother, then it did not follow Catholic teaching on abortion.

Secondly, it's been reported that this wasn't the only reason the hospital was stripped of its Catholic identity. It was the straw that broke the camel's back.

The Church, in the person of the bishop, did what it had to do, looking at the matter objectively. All abortion is intrinsically evil and never to be performed as a means to an end in itself. If that's the case, then the nun and the hospital, objectively, removed themselves from communion with God. God knows otherwise, because God alone knows our hearts. Same can be said for the bishop. But you and I also know how simple it would be for the nun and the hospital to be allowed back into the fold...
